if i stand

There's more that rises in the morning
Than the sun
And more that shines in the night
Than just the moon
It's more than just this fire here
That keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger
Than this room

And there's a loyalty that's deeper
Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs
That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes
For the allegiance
I owe only to the giver
Of all good things

CHORUS:
So if I stand let me stand on the promise
That you will pull me through
And if I can't, let me fall on the grace
That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy
That has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man
Who is longing for his home

There's more that dances on the prairies
Than the wind
More that pulses in the ocean
Than the tide
There's a love that is fiercer
Than the love between friends
More gentle than a mother's
When her baby's at her side

And there's a loyalty that's deeper
Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs
That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes
For the allegence
I owe only to the Giver
Of all good things

And if I weep let it be as a man
Who is longing for his home
- rich mullins

on a totally different tangent... on jo's most recent blog she wrote about the changing nature of the game monopoly and how it becomes different as you grow older...her blog reminded me of a picture that i found a while ago...

apparently, at a festival in australia they built the world's largest monopoly board (complete with a jailer who actaully stood on the go to jail space). unfortunatly real money was not used. but how much fun would it be to play on a gigantic monopoly board!

wahed out paths + mud + me = one very muddy gayle

today my mom dad and i took a trip to tiffany falls (we biked there... just a fun fact... it's about half way down the mountain... the way back up hurt and burned a bit) and we werent very far along when we discovered that the path had been washed out... thinking back- maybe that is why the trail closed sign was up... hmmmm. anyway, we saw that if we could clim up the slope a bit we could come back down and catch the trail on the other side of the washed out section, so all of us started to make the trek above the path to avoid the washed out section, as i made the climb up the muddy slope i saw that up above there was a lot of fun places above where we were, so i decided to go higher then neccessary and explore up above. at this point i must say- i really like to climb up things, but for some reason i have a terrible time coming down. so when i had come to the point when the "mountain top" had been explored, and i could climb no longer... i had to come down. the unfortunate thing was that it was really muddy and slippery. this combined with going down hill made the trip down decidedly longer then the trip up, but i was doing fine... until the very last 5 feet. it was then that my feet decided to slip and my body decided to slide... and my arms decided to be scrapped by the tree that i was holding onto for dear life. i was one muddy mess... but ok, and still alive (as were my parents who i might have given a slight heart attack... they have seen me get hurt quite a few times in my 20 years).

and on a totally different topic...
ancaster has a city flag (although it isnt used anymore)... here it is

from bbc...

i found this article on bbc that defines words often used by the "younger generation" for those who find themselves a bit older then the "younger generation"
some of them made me laugh...

random - odd, irregular, crazy, out there. Not used when something is genuinely random, but as an adjective by those who like to think they live a life less ordinary and have a wacky sense of humour. An example from Urban Dictionary reads thus: Teen 1: "Cheese! hahahaha"Teen 2: "Wow! That's sooooo random!" Also used by players of the online game Counter-Strike to describe someone whose performance is inconsistent.

your mum - a comeback to a question or insult. An implied affront to one's mother, which may be taken as an ineffectual insult or may result in grievous bodily harm. (yes jo... i left the u in mum just for you... it is from the bbc after all)
